This nature academy curriculum has everything you need for a wonder filled spring that incorporates being in nature while learning about some of the most recognizable plants, insects, animals and weather events of the season!! This is great for elementary aged kids but could easily be used for older or younger learners. Nature Academy is designed to be open and go! There are activities that require materials but you can choose to incorporate them or not. Perfect for the whole family!

The idea for a nature academy series was inspired by the need for some hands on resources at my parents farm.
Each individual unit is designed to take about 45 minutes once a week but there are a lot of extras included to dive deeper. You could make this a whole day or spread it out to a few days per week.
We have laid out beautiful activity suggestions, wondering questions and opportunities to pursue your own learning paths. You and your child(ren) or students will learn about nature and how each item we have highlighted fit into the world while taking a stroll through nature, reading some beautiful books that are perfect for an outdoor class or a homeschool setting.
Along with the guided nature reflection and worksheets provided, I've suggested a few activities for each unit, such as the Beeswax candle nature craft, a hummingbird perch, a nature treasure box and so much more. Each unit also contains some vocabulary words, fact sheets, letter pages and reflection sheets. You can use all the pages included or just print and use what you need for your learners.

With this Nature Academy curriculum we are striving to create a whole family learning culture that takes the beauty nature brings into our lives and spreads that joy from the smallest tots to the parent leading the lesson.
Often times nature study is connected to so many other subjects, like science and art. Nature study at its finest incorporates data collecting skills, logic and observation, learning how to make your observations into beautiful art and so many other skills. Being outside in nature helps regulate our moods, calm our minds and enjoy this life in a way few other things can.
Our resources are primarily developed for ages 2-12 but use your discretion at what will work for your kids!
While this is primarily designed to be used in the home, with parent fascillitators but the activities here would work for a classroom setting, in a Co-Op class, nature school, forest school or in an outdoor enrichment class.
In this download you will find some wonderful resources for a guided nature lessons through 12 weeks of spring. There are a lot of ways to use the guide and printable files and I have included some suggestions with each one but feel free to use it however best fits your learner.

But what grade level is it?
This curriculum was designed with a mixed age family in mind which is why you will find activities that would fit a variety of ages. Each week there is a flash card with the subject of that weeks unit that you can use to reflect on what you learned or learn the names of new creatures. We have found that some children really thrive when they can review back over things. If that isn’t something you want or need to utilize then it can easily be left unprinted and unused! This is designed to be customizable depending on the needs of your learners. There are also badges for each unit which you can find more info about how to incorporate further into the curriculum.
We believe, at its core, the study of nature, of our beautiful surroundings and the intricate ways that life on this planet co-exist shouldn’t end when a person finishes grade school, but is a life long pursuit. What better way to live is there than to pursue what is beautiful and lovely right outside our windows? In that spirit, this isn’t designed for one particular grade, but for everyone.
